The Creative Edge Workshop

The CMCE Creative Edge Workshop was hosted by Bayes Business School and looked at how generative AI can help management consultants to be more effective and productive in developing creative solutions to client problems.

Sam Steele, Managing Director of the National Centre for Creativity enabled by AI (CebAI), introduced the workshop by highlighting the difference between conventional software products and Large Language Models (LLMs) and providing guidance on how to use LLMs effectively. Sam also stressed the important distinction between creativity (thinking up things that are new and useful) and innovation (putting ideas into practice or products).

Professor Neil Maiden, CebAI Director, then provided demonstrations of two LLM products developed by CebAI:

  • Business Sparks, a free to use tool which generates creative ideas based on information provided by the user;
  • Insights which identifies and categorises different themes or topics within information assets such as reports, meeting notes and presentations provided by the user.

Attendees at the workshop then had the opportunity to use Business Sparks to generate creative ideas to situations that they defined.
